Optimal gut health for all
Hello! Welcome to my corner of the internet. My name is Kendra. I am a nurse scientist whose goal is to promote optimal gut health for all. I do this primarily through focusing on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). After watching family members and friends struggle to obtain adequate care for their IBD, I became frustrated with the healthcare system. I thought "as a nurse, there must be a better way." This led me on my journey of research training, obtaining a PhD and as Masters in Clinical and Translational Research Methods. Now I am an Assistant Professor at the University of Washington, School of Nursing. I'm always looking to grow my collaborations with patient advocates, community practice settings, fellow researchers, and anyone in between!
Areas of interest: inflammatory bowel disease (ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease), irritable bowel syndrome, the developmental stage of emerging adulthood, measurement, symptoms, self-management, interventions, biomarkers.
